SPALLING

Spalling (often referred to as concrete cancer) is essentially a result of the reinforcing steel within a concrete section rusting. The rusted steel expands causing the concrete surround to delaminate. This action can drastically reduce the strength of the structural member. Due to the nature of the process, early rectification will result
in reduced expense.

  • Loose concrete is removed from the substrate, allow treatment
    of the corroded steel.

  • Excessively rusted reinforcing may need to be removed and replaced.

  • The concrete substrate is replaced using various methods, depending
    on the site conditions.

  • Finishing of the surface to original.
